This is my second time in Cap Haitian, and it has been so
cool to see relationships pick up right where they left off. I forgot how much I
missed EBAC and everyone here. I can’t describe the joy I feel seeing familiar
faces and being able to keep my promise that I would be back. Also, many of my
friends here heard a lot about Ben, my brother, last year. So it has been so
awesome introducing him to people and watching him build his own relationships.
Today, Jen and Joe came in today from the States. Joe is well known within EBAC
– when the truck pulled up, it was like a celebrity had arrived. It was a
really cool thing to watch. I really learned a lot from watching him with a
girl named, Juju (she is new at the orphanage, and Joe and Chris were there
when she was dropped off). He said to her as soon as he saw her, “I love you. I
love you. Do you know that I love you?” It was a reminder to me how important
it is to voice your love for someone. I got emotional watching the scene. I
wonder why I say, “I love you” more here than at home. That is something I will
be convicted of; continually just loving on people. I think that’s the biggest
thing a lot of the time.
I met Jen for the first time today too. It was a blessing
talking with her. She is a nurse and works at many health clinics in Haiti. It’s
been my job the past few days to take care of a head wound on a boy here named Jackson. He is four years
old and has only been at EBAC a week. But when Jen came today she helped with
cleaning the puncture wound. I’m glad she is here! She’s very gifted. I told
her I would love to stay in touch and one day work with her in a clinic here –
it would be an honor. My favorite part of today was dancing with some of the
girls in their rooms. We were screaming, singing, and teaching each other
dances. I haven’t laughed that hard in a long time. I love spending time with
these girls and getting to know their hearts. As well as learning the language –
I just love being immersed in everything here. God’s presence is truly here.
Kevin saw and heard people singing on a hill in the distance. He asked one of
our friends here, Franz, what they were doing. He replied that they were
fasting and praying to God. Franz said they do that a couple times a week. It
made me realized how much we have to learn from them. I’m reminded how
important prayer is. Hope you are all well at home!
Thanks for sharing. It was inspiring as well as an eye opener. THe word LOVE means so much. Sometimes we just take it for grant it. As the saying goes Actions speak louder then words, but not true there. Actions and words are equally as important they hear and see the LOVE from everyone. They are starving for love and we take it for grant it. WOW your hearts have to be over flowing with emotion. God it Great.
ReplyDeleteContinued prayer for a healthy and safe trip.
God Bless
